The USO

The University Symphonic Orchestra of KU Leuven was founded in 1962. The orchestra consists entirely of students who want to share their passion for music, and meet every Wednesday evening to make music. Each academic year, the USO plays two programs in Leuven under the direction of conductor Edmond Saveniers.

Moreover, in November the orchestra invariably sets out together: we are talking about the famous concert tour. On this trip, there is a lot of rehearsing and concertizing. This is always followed by a concert series in the good old town of Leuven.

In the second semester the orchestra plays a spring program in Leuven; around this time you can also find us at a concert on the road. In the past, the USO has played at the Kursaal in Ostend, the Concertgebouw in Bruges and numerous other locations.

In addition to being an orchestra, the USO is also a student association: musical and less musical side activities complement the weekly rehearsals and create a fun and student-like group atmosphere.
